"Today's modern bride usually prefers a greater number of candid shots and a lighter emphasis on time-consuming posed photography. Depending on the bride's wishes I normally arrange, for instance, a 5 hour shot to include only 2 lots of 10 minutes for arranged posing.

Contemporary photography, candid-style, is the preferred method to document one's wedding these days because this reveals all the fine & actual detail that make a wedding how it is meant to be remembered: special.

Candid photography is a lot less obtrusive than taking away the wedding couple from family and friends for hours posing for photos. It also offers the opportunity to capture those many real, happy and spontaneous moments that occur without warning and would certainly not be possible with any amount of planning. It goes without saying only a truly gifted photographer used to the intensity of such a photojournalistic approach can shoot fast and accurately enough. "As equally important as being creative is to make this visual story into a classic, refined work of art. Wedding photography will be viewed by many people and within many different stages in time so it is important that the
look and feel not seem dated in any way, but be frozen in an ageless state.

To achieve a never-aging look the style is kept simple and clear. Sepia tones and black & white high contrast are rendered to highlight this classic feel. Colours may be reduced to dual-tones and then intensified in saturation. When creating the "closer look" impression the subject is highly visible with great clarity while the background is softened to a pleasant yet quiet blur.

Many other techniques are used and are constantly being refined, learned and invented. But the one thing that is never assumed is choice. Often the same photograph will be presented to the client in a few different ways. The client's preferences are always of primary importance."
